About

The 37th Annual Chugwater Chili Cook-Off and Roundup is Wyoming’s spiciest hometown event!

The Chugwater Chili Cook-off was started by the Chugwater Chili Corporation in 1986 to celebrate the best chili and the best town, together. With an all-volunteer group of administrators, all proceeds continue to go to local non-profit groups that keep the town of Chugwater going. Some of these groups include the Chugwater School Student organizations (FFA and FBLA), Chugwater Volunteer Fire Department, Chugwater Historical Unity Group, Chugwater Housing and Economic Development and the Chugwater Community Center. Last year, we added our first-ever scholarship program.

The event this year will be held at the Chugwater Town Park and will feature a competitive chili cooking and salsa making contest. There are several divisions of competition and attendees will get a spicy kick out of watching cooks compete in the Showmanship Division. Attendees are encouraged to participate to their fullest extent by placing a vote for the People’s Choice Award.

After trying the state’s best chili and salsa, satisfy your sweet tooth at the 2nd Cobbler cook-off!

Cash prizes will be given as a percentage of entry fees plus added money to the top three winners of the green chili, salsa, and cobbler competition. EVERYONE is encouraged to enter!!

You can grab a nice commemorative beer mug to aid during your tasting. Commemorative T-shirts and other items will also be available for purchase on the day of the cook-off.

This year’s event features a car show with drivers eager for your vote as best of show. We will be adding a parade of winners to this year’s event so that visitors get to see the cars in action!

Due to the outstanding attendance the past 2 years, our Ranch Rodeo will be taking place once again this year. Real Wyoming cowboys and cowgirls compete in multiple different areas to take home the pot. Our rodeo includes Ranch Bronc Riding which is a crowd-favorite!

Kids are encouraged to take part in kids games and crafts. The park offers a new playground with slides, swings, merry-go round and more.

Keep in mind for future reference that the Chugwater Chili Cook-Off always occurs on the third Saturday of June (the Saturday before Father’s Day). What a great tradition to kick off Father’s Day weekend every year!
